Speak Your Truth: Why It Feels Scary—and Why It’s Part of Spiritual Growth
Podcast: Rachel’s Reflection — Episode 2
Have you ever felt a deep inner knowing… a hunch, a desire, a vision for your life — and then completely frozen when it came time to say it out loud?
Do you worry about rocking the boat, disappointing people, or changing how others see you?
In this episode of Rachel’s Reflection, I explore why speaking our truth can feel so terrifying — and why that fear is actually a natural and necessary part of spiritual growth. Drawing from over a decade of work as a clairvoyant healer and my own personal journey, I share what really happens when we begin to outgrow old identities and listen more deeply to our inner guidance.
In This Episode, We Explore:
- Why speaking your truth triggers fear
From a nervous-system and ego perspective, our early conditioning taught us that fitting in equals safety. When we begin to change, the ego interprets that as a threat. - How intuition actually speaks to us
Through repetitive thoughts, quiet nudges, dreams, and “random” ideas that keep returning — especially when we create space through journaling, movement, or meditation. - Spiritual awakenings and life transitions
Many people experience a deep inner shift around their late 20s or during major life passages, when the old ways no longer fit and something new is asking to emerge. - The throat chakra and telling the truth
As the heart opens, the need for authentic expression, boundaries, and creative truth-telling often intensifies — even when it feels uncomfortable. - Why spiritual growth can feel groundless
Like a caterpillar dissolving in the chrysalis, there is often a phase where everything familiar falls away before something new is formed.
A Personal Story: Leaving a “Safe” Identity
I share my own experience of leaving my career as a public school teacher — an identity that once defined me — after feeling a persistent inner call toward something more. That call led me to blogging, psychic training, a silent meditation retreat, and ultimately resigning from my job despite strong fear and resistance from those closest to me.
Speaking my truth didn’t come without loss, grief, or uncertainty — but it laid the foundation for a life and business that has supported me and my daughter for more than a decade.
If You’re Afraid to Speak Your Truth, Start Here
You don’t have to make a dramatic leap overnight. Begin with small, gentle steps:
- Whisper your truth to yourself
- Write it down in a journal
- Say it out loud in a safe space
- Share it with a therapist, guide, or trusted listener
Truth spoken quietly is still truth — and it opens the door to change.
A Deeper Question We All Must Face
At some point on the spiritual path, we are asked to examine what we truly believe sustains us:
- Is it the job?
- The paycheck?
- Other people’s approval?
Or do we trust that life, love, and a higher intelligence are holding us — just as an acorn holds the oak tree within it?
This question marks the beginning of a powerful inner journey — one that strengthens faith, self-trust, and alignment over time.
