You carry Mother Earth within you. She is not outside of you. Mother Earth is not just your environment. In that insight of inter-being, it is possible to have real communication with the Earth, which is the highest form of prayer. ~Thich Nhat Hanh
For many years in a row I went on Hut trips. A group of about ten of us would four-wheel it into the high country, or sometimes we’d even back pack our way in.
In Colorado, there’s a Hut Mountain Division that provides back-country huts for people to rent. You can hike, ski, snowshoe and stay in one of these huts.
We’d be up there, close to tree line, for five to seven days. I’d always start the trip the same. Anxious. Wondering why I’d come. Thinking that five days was way too long. I’d hate that I felt trapped, no way to leave.
It always took a couple of days, but soon, the magic of nature would have Her way with me and I’d settle in to my body, my spirit would relax, and I’d journey into the heart of nature and reap the benefits of Her support.
What I mean by that is that I usually ended up naked, in the mud, or romping through the meadows.
By the time our last day arrived, I’d wish I could stay longer.
In this fast-paced world, many of us don’t get into nature enough. If we do, it’s often a quick hike, or a day trip, something simple.
If you ever have the chance to go camping, or stay in a hut, and be in nature for many days at a time, I highly encourage it.
For many years I also took my students to Cal-Wood Outdoor Education Center. As a teacher, it became one of my favorite things to do and I greatly looked forward to it. Firstly, I got to unplug from my phone, as there’s no cell service or internet.
Spending three days off-line, and in nature all day, rain or shine, was a tremendously peaceful + healing experience.
I’d come home so rejuvenated. My spirit would feel refreshed. The reason why is that there is literal energetic support that we receive from mother earth.
Being in nature is one of the fastest, easiest ways to heal ourselves.
Often in a reading, I can see if someone doesn’t get enough nature time. Over and over again, the messages from spirit are, get out in nature, sit under a tree, sit by a creek, find silence.
I believe that mother Earth is a living, breathing, alive being and she wants to connect to us just as much as we desire to connect to her. She, nature, has been waiting for us, as it were, for millions of years.
You see, there’s a power in acknowledging spirit, and that includes the elemental realm. When was the last time you said hello to a tree, or a plant or a flower?
There’s a communion we have with nature, and She desires that we restore our communion with Her. She desires that we validate and acknowledge her aliveness, that we contribute energy to the earth and in return, as always, She supports us energetically and assists us in our healing.
To restore your communion with Mother Earth, try the following:
- Contribute energy to the earth- just imagine sending energy to Her.
- Spend time in nature
- Put your back up against a tree
- Sit by running water
- Plant you bare-feet on the earth
- Lie down in the grass, or on a rock and find the silence
- Run your earth energies
If you’re suffering from anxiety, depression, fatigue, sadness, or any similar symptoms, I wonder…are you spending enough time in nature?
For most women I read, they’re not. We have to honor that it is vital to our energy and health and we must make it a priority. You may not be able to go out for five days on a hut trip, but a simple walk in nature can do the trick.
Schedule it. Plan it. Make it happen, for you and for Her.
She’s your mother, she has the power to contribute to you, and you to Her.
